Brand creation with The Paleo Foods Co

We were commissioned to explore brand creation for The Paleo Foods Company, an exciting and innovative food start-up. Since 2013, we have worked closely with Claire and her team as the brand has evolved.

The idea

Taking inspiration from the most iconic of creatures from the Paleolithic era – the wooly mammoth. We conceived an elegant and evocative mammoth mark, a simple but memorable symbol for the brand.

The name was chosen to be ownable and distinctive, as The Paleo Foods Company was the first to offer these kinds of products in the UK. The strapline “EST. 10,000 BC” was created to play onthe idea that these foods were conceived long ago byour ancestors.

Brand toolkit

We created a simple brand toolkit, giving The Paleo Foods Company everything they needed to get started with the launch of their first products.

Tone of voice

We brought our mammoth character to life, by using speech bubbles across brand touchpoints. This established a friendly and playful tone of voice, with key messaging based around the simple and allnatural ingredients of the products.

Launch of first products

To get The Paleo Foods Company started, we supported them with the launch of their Paleo friendly grain-free granola – the first in the UK.

Tasters

This range of products was packed by hand into small pouches and sold in a select number of health food stores and gyms around London.

Small batch pouches

Following the popularity of the tasters, we worked with The Paleo Foods Co to develop the packaging further. This range of products was packed by hand into small pouches and sold in a select number of health food stores and gyms around London. We designed stickers for the front and reverse of the packs.

UK-wide roll out

The products were so successful that The Paleo Foods Company commissioned us to explore, conceive and develop a range of packaging designs for the nationwide supermarket launch of their full range of Paleo granolas. We collaborated on the tone of voice, with The Paleo Foods Co providing most copy for the packaging design.

UK-wide launch advertising and marketing

To support the nationwide launch of The Paleo Foods Company’s granola range, we developed all required collateral, including press advertising, and a simple website that the client could update themselves.

The nuttiest almond drink in the UK

Following the success of the grain-free granolas range, The Paleo Foods Company commissioned us to explore, conceive and develop packaging designs for a new range of almond milk/drink. The unique selling proposition of this product was that it would be the nuttiest almond drink available in the UK at launch.

Concepts were developed which built on the well established brand, iterating through numerous illustrations of almonds with varying levels of realism, settling on a high finish, airbrushed style to complement the clean brand and naturalhealth benefits of The Paleo Foods Company’s products.

We collaborated on the tone of voice, with The Paleo Foods Co providing most copy for the packaging design.

Brand evolution

As The Paleo Foods Company’s brand has evolved, we have been brought in at various stages to assist with brand development to meet their changing requirements.

A circular brand mark / logotype was requested and developed to be used as a standalone icon of the brand, which could be used in various marketing touchpoints.
