About

My name’s Paul Currah — I’m a freelance design director with 16 years industry experience, specialising in ideas first branding, illustration and digital design.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work with many wonderful people and brands, being a part of projects that have won six D&AD pencils.

From my seaside studio near Bournemouth, here are three things I can give you:

1. Big branding agency experience

I've worked as a designer at agencies such as The Partners, Modern Designers, DutchScot, Radford Wallis and Carter Wong on some of the best projects imaginable. I’ve worked with The National Gallery, AstraZeneca, Deloitte, Waitrose, BBC and many more.

2. Small brand expertise

I enjoy working with start ups and small brands. I helped create The Paleo Foods Co brand in 2013, which started life as hand packed product samples in health food shops, evolving into a mammoth brand that is stocked in major supermarkets today.

3. Extra large results

I also love working with charities. One of the proudest achievements of my career has been working for Macmillan Cancer Support between 2010–2020, on over 170 creative projects. I played a small part in helping Macmillan increase their income by 61%, reach 69% more people and raise spend on cancer services by 71% / £74.9m (source: Macmillan’s annual reports 2011 and 2019).

Besides ideas led design, my other passions include astronomy, Bedlington terriers, playing drums in a gigging rock band and running lots of marathons!
